Kindly forgive my mistakes in this translation. This is not an authentic translation as I am not a scholar in both the languages.
Please consider this as my humble effort to those who doesn't understand Malayalam, to have a feel of what the song conveys.

Oru raatri koodi vidavaangave, oru paattu mooli veyil veezhave
When one more night bids farewell, when the sunlight hums
a song and falls ,
Pathiye parannennarikil varum
azhakinte thoovalaanu nee ( Oru raatri)
The feather of beauty, that falls gently, near me ,is you
Pala naalalanja maruyaatrayil hridayam thiranja priya swapname
In wandering desert travels of many days,
Oh, the dear dream that my heart searched
Mizhikalkku munpilithalaarnnu nee viriyanorungi nilkayo
In front of my eyes, with petals adorning you,
are you getting ready to blossom
Pularaan thudangumoru raatriyil thaniye kidannu mizhivaarkkave
When it starts to dawn, in one night ,lying alone and shedding tears
Oru nertha thennalalivode vannu nerukil thalodi manjuvo
Did a tender breeze come with compassion and
caress your forehead and disappear
nerukil thalodi maanjuvo?? ( Oru raatri)
caressed your forehead and disappeared?
Malarmanju veena vanaveedhiyil idayante paattu kaathorkkave
In forest paths where flower like snow falls,
trying to listen to shepherd's song
Oru paazhkkinavilurukunnoren manassinte paattu kettuvo
Have you heard the song of my heart,
which is melting in a useless dream
Nizhal veezhumente idanaazhiyil kanivode pootha manideepame
In my dark corridoor ( corridoor where shadow falls),
Oh the jewel studded lamp which blossomed with compassion
Oru kunju kaattilanayaathe nin thirinaalamennum kaathidaam..
Always I will guard your flame from blowing out, even by a small wind,
thirinaalamennum kaathidaam.. ( Oru raatri)
Will guard the flame always

ReplyDeleteÜbersetzungsbüro englisch I can relate to this as a translator myself. The way I see it, Japanese presents incredible translation challenges since it's a system that's completely different from most Western languages, with numerous nuances of politeness that allow for innuendo. This, in turn, can take even paragraphs to make sense of. Anyways, good luck with your work, and I'm hoping for a future update!
